Brigid’s Fire Temple

Brigid’s Fire Temple is also worthy of note, its foundations were restored in the grounds of the old Kildare Cathedral.

It is believed to be where Brigid kept her eternal flame lit and where, after her death, her Sisters continued to keep the fire burning.

To stand in its enclosure is to experience a deep sense of peace and calm.

St. Brigid’s Fire Temple

During special festive occasions and rituals, small fires are lit, in the Fire Temple, to commemorate the life of St. Brigid and to invoke blessings on those present.

Return in thought and prayer to the journey you have just made, “walking beside Brigid’s flame”. Take a moment to reflect on fire, its significance and importance in the lives of all humanity, especially your own. Welcome to Brigid’s fire and the warmth of her hearth.
